Worship is one word that seems to have so many different meanings in Christendom today. Often I hear people say, “Worship was good today” or “You all most got me to the point of worshiping.” The truth is we far too often think of worship being about us what “I” get out of it. To think that worship is about what I want is misguided.

Worship is simply living a life that brings pleasure to God, that’s the bottom line. It isn’t for our benefit! We worship for God’s benefit. When we worship, our goal is to bring pleasure to God, not ourselves. The bible tells us to look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. (Psalm 105:4) Seek His face always, this means we should live our lives everyday, every hour to bring Him glory and pleasure.

How is it possible to do everything to the glory of God? By doing everything as if you were doing it for Jesus and by carrying on a continual conversation with him while you do it! The Bible says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (Colossians 3:23)

So, worship is far more than music or a style of music. Worship is a lifestyle of bringing glory and a smile to our creator.

Here at FBCNV living a lifestyle of Worship is what we strive for. We recognize that people come from diverse backgrounds some are traditional and some are contemporary. Our goal is to speak a musical language that takes the clash of musical styles out of the “corporate” worship opportunity.

Here at FBCNV we have what we call a CLASSIC Service with a musical style that combines traditional hymns with a Southern Gospel flavor. (9:00 AM Sundays) We also have the EXALT Service with a music style that you would hear on K-LOVE. (10:30 AM Sundays)

The most important thing to remember is this:

Worship is glorifying God in ALL we do! It’s not about us and it can be hard work!
